Now ,you have completed +2,enjoying your holiday, but is also
worried what to read after this ,which college to choose ,what is the cost
associated and so on.As a student of management ,I too have gone through the
same dilemma. It was really hard to find someone guiding you ,as which course to
choose ,what are its opportunities, what are its scope, how hard is it to read
that particular subject, what are its cost etc. What most of the students do is 80%
parents pressure and 15% whim i.e do what what your friends are doing
and only 5% are lucky enough to understand and choose the subject or course
they are studying. So which percentage you would ike to belong to?Obviously that
5% right?
Ok
so lets start up,and decide which is the best course for you.Lets have the ride
with me.
1.You have just given +2 in management so most of you are
still teenagers. As teenagers mostly do,please do not take decision in hurry as
it is the matter of your career, not a decision to buy clothes in a fancy
store.Think well before deciding what is that you want to do in your life.Do
not take any decision on the family or peer pressure because its you who need
to face it,not your parents or your friends.
2.If you ever feel in +2 that management is not my field,I
would have done better if I choose Humanities or education, you can think that
too as well. You need not read management
in bachelors just because you read management in + 2 ,you can join many other
courses.Consult colleges for that.
3.Ok now if you are
really fed up of the education system and study in Nepal, and is thinking of
going abroad, think well before joining any colleges. It might take time to
process for visas, colleges you choose in that country and at the same time you
think of joining the colleges in Nepal until you get visa for that
country, choose cheap courses and colleges.Studying BBS would be idle,in
government colleges if you can as fees are really cheap. It would be better
because if your Visa attempt is unsucess, your time is not wasted ,you can carry
on your colleges and if its success, congrat you can leave the college and not
much of the money is spent. Its advisable not to join expensive courses like BBA
,BHM,BIM if you are thinking of going abroad as its really hard ,as to say
almost impossible to transfer the bachelor level credit to foreign university.
4.If you are interested in taking study and job at the same
time,it would be idle to choose BBS morning shift .This way you can read in the
morning and can carry on your job at day time.
5.If you are quite interested in joining CA,you can join
that. But please know this fact that I have learned from the experience of my
friends and brothers that CA is not a easy course,it requires hard
dedication, time and most important financial backup until you become CA.There
are two boards,Nepali and Indian.Comparatively as I have seen, its easy to pass
Indian board compared to Nepali but there are difficulties associated with
Indian board as well. You can’t complete all the CA course from Nepal, you must have to go to
India for your studies. The cost is not just 2 lakhs (and that too recoverable while studying as
mentioned by institutes),its very high than that, think well.Consulting with
those studying CA would be better. I have a friend who is studying CA (Indian
board),from institute which claims he could finish off within 2 lakhs but now
its been 4 years he have lots of back paper as reading is not easy enough as
mentioned by institute, and the cost has almost triple as mentioned as he has
been living in India. There are lots of CA groups of Nepali student in
facebook, better consult them first .Don’t jump blindly just because institute
and the students presented by it tell you “ See this CA gentleman from my
institute,he is all India topper,earns 10 lakhs per month,its very cheap”,and
other attractions,think well.
6.If its tourism and hospitality sector that you are
interested in ,there are basically two options to you.Either you read BHM or
BTTM.For BHM ,there is only one government college affiliated to TU i.e. NATHM
located at Rabhibhawan Kathmandu, with 120 sits of total. For BTTM public youth
and NATHM are two options. The cost for BHM and BTTM are not more than 4 lakhs
in government colleges .For getting admission in these TU colleges ,you need to
give CMAT(please see my other post regarding CA in this blog) exam taken by TU
every year.Your CMAT exam score ,+2 results,in some case evaluation and
interview by colleges is taken into onsideration for selction. For CMAT you can
contact the college you wish to join and know about the dates. It would be idle
if you buy a CMAT preparation book and start preparing.Other university as KU
and PU are available but KU and PU is quite expensive compared to TU
colleges, and getting admitted in KU colleges is not easy as entrance by KU i.e.
KUUMAT have negative marking system in entrance.Normally PU(Pokhara
collges are easy to get admission but in
the market it has less preference than that of TU College). Please visit the
college website or college for more info.IT is advisable to visit after
Shrawan.
7.If its banking sector and other financial sector you are
interested to pursue you career in ,BBA is what you should join. The main
differcne between BBA and BBS is that BBA is more practical oriented course
that aims to produce HR that can be instantly used in jobs whereas BBS is more
theory oriented .For BBA too you have to give university exam, college entrance ,interview if
necessary. The BBA program is offered by TU ,KU and PU(Pokhara University) and
other foreign university affiliated colleges. It is semester system i.e exam
taken every 6 months and total of 8 semester For KU you need to give KUMAT.For
TU you need CMAT and for PU you need nothing special as there are lots of PU
BBA colleges that are not getting the students. The fee structure of TU is from
around 3 to 9 lakhs, for KU there are few BBA collges that charge you more than
most of TU College and in PU it ranges from cheap to highly expensive which
ranges from 2 to 12 lakhs. You need no to visit colleges to know about the fee
structure ,you can search in google about college website, visit website ,get
contact address and contact them. Its that much. Now days BBM is offered by TU in
NCC and Saraswati college Kathmandu. It is new course for Nepali management
studies. Please take care about the foreign university colleges such as
affiliated university, its credibility in Nepal, approval by Nepalese government
etc.
8.BIM is other sector where you can pursue your career in.If
you are interested in Information technology, you can join BIM.It is also
offered by TU and other universities. For this also you need to give the
university exam.It is semester system i.e exam taken every 6 months and total
of 8 semester.
Now this is what I can tell you based on my experience ,what
I have seen and known. There might be other opportunities and courses, please
mention in comment or email me,I will be adding them as well.I am no career
counselor or expert. This post is written to provide small help to those who are
in confusion regarding which course to choose. No course is easy to study without dedication and interst and there is
nothing you can’t achieve because you are the lively ,young teenager with lots
of potential, energy and ambition.Best of luck!!!
